August 11, 2019 – Blue Ridge Trail (3x)
Pedro wanted to get another hike in today before taking all the kids to the lake to swim, so we decided to get an early start on the Blue Ridge Trail that runs up from Hwy 2 to the top of Blue Ridge between the Mountain High East and West ski resorts. We got through the initial rolling terrain and crossed the wooden footbridge in good order, but Chris again began to tire as we transitioned to the more continuous climb – we made steady but slow progress to the bench halfway up the two-mile trail. After a break there, we resumed our hike, but Chris’ stomach began to give him fits after only a few hundred yards more – reluctantly, we turned back, taking about half the time to get down as it took to get up. Though not much in the way of distance, it was a pleasant enough way to spend the morning – the weather was cool but bright, and the rest of the day at the lake was beautiful.

Glad to hear you are hiking. Labor day weekend sounds great. I’m anxious to hear how it goes.
