February 4, 2022 – Redmond Ridge (WA)
After a week-and-a-half in Redmond, WA, we were looking for something to stretch our legs and get outside. Chris’ sister, Anne, met us at Chris’ mom’s apartment in Redmond Ridge and offered to show us the walking trails in this neck of the literal woods, so the three of us headed out just after noon. Directly out the south end of the complex, we followed the trail west and south for about a mile downhill through a low drainage. Passing through pretty forest and grassy meadows, we turned east to climb out of the vale and up to a crossing of one of the main avenues in the area. We turned southeast and followed the road for a bit, the forest views being temporarily replaced by homes and light traffic. We soon came to a junction with a trail that would take us northward, re-entering the tree cover and meandering through the mossy foliage for about a mile-and-a-half before reaching a small industrial park where we turned west and walked along surface streets back to the apartment complex. In all, we covered over 4 miles in 80 minutes, so the walk was fairly brisk. Such a change to have beautiful scenery so close to one’s door.

It’s nice to be reading about your travels and hiking again! I’ve only ever been through Oregon and Washington once and it was probably 25 years ago. It’s definitely someplace I’d like to visit. Glad you guys are having fun.
